We are very lucky to have extensive grounds that provide excellent opportunities for a full range of sports and play activities and we encourage the use of the outdoor environment throughout the year. In order to use our grounds fully throughout the year and for all subjects across the curriculum, we have an “outside classroom” which provides shelter from both the sun and the rain during lesson and break times.
There is a small kitchen garden where children grow their own vegetables, with help from the community who have generously donated many plants and seed. We consider this practical learning to be essential for young children as they develop their knowledge and skills across the curriculum. Within the grounds there is also a wildlife area, recently renovated by the PTA, with its own pond.
There are four spacious classrooms all with interactive white boards, and a central hall which is used for lunch, P.E. and assemblies.
There is a computer room, a thrive room and a library.
The Friends of Hollesley School have funded a children’s kitchen area so that the children can learn to cook using safe and modern facilities especially designed for children. This is used by small groups of children to cook their own lunch as well as making bread, cakes, biscuits etc.
