Welcome to the “Friends of Hollesley School”!

The Friends of Hollesley School is a registered charity that is run by a volunteer group of parents who try to make our children’s school life even better by organising fun events outside of school and raising funds for the benefit of the school’s children.
The “Friends of Hollesley School” run several events throughout the year; some of them to raise money for the school and some of them are just for fun.

Our events are are constantly evolving but include an annual Christmas Event, an Easter Egg Hunt, a non-uniform day, cake stalls, Wildlife workshops, Tuck shop, Bingo & Bangers evening, Camping, Disco’s and more. We also hold regular coffee afternoons (with delicious home-baked cakes!) which give parents a chance to get together at school.

Recent completed projects by the friends committee include building a large outdoor shelter, planting 20 more fruit trees and lots of hedgerow plants, complete with picket panels to provide some defence from flying balls! Friends also created a huge Wildlife area/forest school space for the children to enjoy, including a much larger pond. They also supplied the school with a shed full of pond dipping equipment, mini beast hunting pots and brushes, den building kits etc. This project was made possible  with a large amount of funding following successful grants from Suffolk Coast and Heaths, towards final costs.
Anyone is welcome to join the friends committee, even if you can only help at one event, more hands make less work! We are a small group of around 20, please do let school know if you’d like to jump on board.

Wildlife Area

A team from the Friends worked throughout the summer to create a new wildlife area and forest school to conserve and enhance nature and landscape assets in the school grounds. The special area is where pupils can learn more about the importance of the environment.

The school received more than £7,000 in funding from conservation organisation Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in support of the project. Additionally, energy firm EDF Energy sent a team from the Sizewell B power station to help with creating the wildlife areas.

We are trying to help tackle the climate emergency by supporting nature recovery through conservation and enhancement of wildlife habitat, whilst identifying the benefits of sustainable practices and carbon reduction. We’re extremely grateful for the support from the Coast and Heaths AONB, the grant money has allowed us to create this amazing setting on a much greater scale than our original plan of using PTA funds alone.

The wildlife area is not just for the school but also to invite other schools, as well as the local community and the village to make use of the facility. We are so proud of the project and the work that has been done and we wanted to promote it.
